Aqaucel Ag Extra dressing with silver and strengthening fiber is a soft, sterile non-woven dressing made from two layers of ionic silver impregnated hydrofiber (sodium carboxymethylcellulose) which are stitched together with strengthening fibers. This conformable and highly absorbent dressing absorbs wound fluid and creates a soft cohesive gel that intimately micro-contours to the wound bed, maintains a moist environment which supports the body's healing process and aids in the removal of necrotic material from the wound (autolytic debridement) without damaging newly formed tissue. The silver in the dressing kills wound bacteria held in the dressing, and provides an antimicrobial barrier to protect the wound bed. Aquacel Ag Extra dressing is designed to make it 9X stronger and provides an increased absorbency of 50% higher than current Aquacel Ag dressing.
